Engineer’s Day Celebration
Engineers’ Day is celebrated on September 15th every year in India to remember the birthday of Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, a great engineer and Bharat Ratna recipient. He is known for his contributions in the field of engineering, including the construction of dams, bridges, and irrigation systems. The Engineers Day celebration is an opportunity to recognize the contributions of engineers to society. It is also a day to encourage young people to pursue careers in engineering.
Today, September 15th, 2023, the Engineers Day celebration was held at the GF’s Godavari College of Engineering, Jalgaon. The programme began with lamp lighting, Saraswati Pujan, and offering garlands to the image of Visvesvaraya. After that, dignitaries were felicitated by Dr Vijaykumar Patil (Principal GF’S GCOE) with shawls and bouquets.
This was followed by a speech by the chief guest, Mr Ayush Prasad (Jalgaon District Collector). The chief guest highlighted the importance of engineers in society and encouraged young people to pursue careers in engineering. Also, he highlighted the very significant issues in the engineering field. Similarly, he underlined the qualities that should be acquired to become an excellent engineer. While giving information about an exemplary engineer, Mr.Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, he appropriately described the work done by him. He gave three basic mantras to the students: continuous learning, discovering the world, and child enthusiasm.
Dr Vaibhav Patil (DM Cardiologist, Godavari Foundation), present as a prominent guest, guided the students and explained the importance of engineers to society and the nation. He elaborated very interestingly on how, without engineers, every field is incomplete. At the end, he wished the students success as engineers and appreciated the students’ excellent organisation of the event.
